Ralfie's Journey to Music

Known on stage as Ralife D, Ralph DeMasi was born in New Orleans to parents from New York City, where he learned to appreciate music at an early age. His older brother, who initially played drums, switched to guitar as a teenager and showed him how to hold the sticks. From that moment, he was captivated by the drumming style and the rhythm that accompanies live music performances. Today, drumming remains his life's passion, alongside his professional career in medical sciences, which often keeps him busy but can't overshadow his love for music events.

In addition to his own musical projects, Ralfie D (Ralph DeMasi) serves the local Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill musical community as the president of the Triangle Blues Society. Triangle Blues Society jam session hi-lights.

This video is a representative example of Ralfie's drumming at the Triangle Blues Society open blues jams, and is taken from the third Sunday jam at Speakeasy, Carrboro. These jam sessions are scheduled every third Sunday of the month from 4 to 7pm. Please arrive by 3:30 to sign up if you are interested in playing.
